KERENDUN & NITAI HERSHKOVITS WOMAN'S REACH (LIVE)

Tel Aviv's vocalist and songwriter KerenDun is best known for her psychedelic soul-jazz present in stand-out tracks, like 'Caterpillar Style', and her most recent single 'Afternoon'. She's announced a new EP, Let The Mountains In, a collaboration with NY-based Israeli pianist Nitai Hershkovits. The first single to land from the new EP is 'Woman's Reach', available as a live video performance - 'Woman's Reach (Live)'. The track is instantly engaging, Hershkovits fingers stroke the piano keys as tenderly as a mother would with a newborn. KerenDun's vocal performance is hauntingly graceful, particularly on the line, 'Undercurrents set the pace of waves Although they're unseen, they are there', where the piano flutters, an embodiment of those 'undercurrents'. KerenDun says of the new EP, "We didn’t really know what we wanted except for piano and voice together, no masks, something very primal and natural". Let The Mountains In is available on February 19, 2021 on Raw Tapes. -Ellie Rose-Davies
